Holidaying in Thailand

Thailand, affectionately known as the Land of Smiles, has mesmerised millions of travellers each year. Location in the heart of Southeast Asia, offers something for everyone. The fun in the sun in Phuket, the culture and bustling pulse of Bangkok and the cool mountain breezes and laid back life of Chiang Mai – Thailand has it all.

Phuket is situated in the south of Thailand near the Andaman Sea and is a hot spot for travellers from all over the world. It’s not uncommon to see a multitude of countries being represented on one beach! Although Patong Beach is most popular, there are quieter and more pristine beaches further south. If time allows, be sure to take a day trip to Phi Phi Island. The white sand literally feels like silk and the waters are as clear as glass. Truly spectacular!

The heart and capital of Thailand is Bangkok. Its Thai name is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the longest name of a capital city and the current King holds the record for keeping his position the longest in world history!

Bangkok is also the centre of history, employment, culture, and night life. Many foreigners stop here to make Thailand their home and for good reason – there’s so much to do. There is shopping, restaurants of every type of local and international cuisine and many temples to explore. For those needing a break from the daily traffic, Pattaya is only a couple of hours away. Hua Hin is only three to four hours away and so worth it!

Chiang Mai is in Northern Thailand and has some of the most amazing mountains. Looking up, you can see how the clouds gently surround the greenery of the mountains and the winding roads that seems to go on forever. The people are quite friendly and very hospitable. They also speak their own dialect of Thai, but if you learn Thai as spoken in Bangkok, Thais anywhere should be able to understand you.

Try spending some time in all three locations and get a sense of Thai communities and their strong sense of family values. Try the local cooking and be sure to pick up a few souvenirs while you’re there. Soon you will find that Thailand’s warm smiles are indeed genuine and quire infectious!
